For all the sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, "It might have been!"

I have been avoiding the obligatory 2010 recap/ 2011 resolutions post because it was feeling a little bit overwhelming. I already have a lot going on this year. I start grad school in two short weeks, I am hopefully going to be a dog walker in a few short days, and I am living in a new-to-me city. Everything in my life is shiny and new and just a little bit terrifying. The last thing I want to do is add more onto the list of things to get done this year.

Instead, I am going to expand upon my 'begin anywhere' advice for 2011. Because my resolutions this year are pretty simple and can be summed up in three parts.

(1) Try new things. I am living in a new place, will be meeting all sorts of new people, and will have so many opportunities at my fingertips. I can feel the buzz of potential when I walk down the streets of my neighborhood. I love it. I don't want to miss anything and I want to do everything.
(found on smile!)

(2) I know I get caught up in the tiny day-to-day dramas of my life. Instead, I want to focus on the big picture and take the little steps needed (even if they are teeny tiny baby steps) to get where I want to be.

(3) Someone once said, "We are all on different paths to the same truth." I agree whole heartedly with that statement. I need to take a pause and realize that the route to success/ happiness/ bliss that worked for one person may not be the same route that I need to take. I need to go my own way.

One of the things that has really been helping to keep me on task with these above three things is this blog. To make it easier to navigate, I've been tweaking things here and there, so let me know what you think. I've redone all of the sidebar links so they look consistent, added and then taken away the 'You might also like this' gadget that used to show up at the bottom of each post, and have been fiddling around with 'After the jump' options for longer posts.  Things will continue to change, so if you like or dislike, let me know! I am also working on some new weekly features, so keep checking back.

Happy new everything!
